Why did I start my Interior Design Business?
Architecture and Interior Design have been my passion for years, but how could I really help people and provide them with value? There had to be more than just creating beautiful, functional spaces and that’s exactly why i started my business.
My business started when I continued to search for a higher PURPOSE in my work. While being on maternity leave of my firstborn son, while breastfeeding and holding my baby to sleep, I had some time to think and reflect on how I wanted my life to be from then on and how I wanted my work to have a higher purpose.
I had just finished my Masters’ Degree in Interior Design and had been working in the field of Architecture and Interior Design for a few years already and I knew that I wanted to keep working in this field. I also knew that working for others is not for me, my entrepreneurial spirit is very strong and when I had worked by myself was when I felt more creative, productive, happy and fulfilled and also when I have produced best results!
That’s when I started putting together different pieces of my life, the Zen influence, spirituality and meditation that I started developing in depth while working in China, as well as Glenn Murcutt’s Master Class in Australia where I completely changed my view of Architecture, giving it a focus on sustainability, touching the ground lightly and of course, SERENITY. Also my master of Interior Design at Istituto Marangoni where I understood the power that Interiors have for creating experiences and how can we completely transform them through design. Finally, there was also the idea that I wanted my work to positively influence the daily lives of people and families and act as a background for creating MEMORIES.
During my working experience and even since I started studying Architecture in Bogota, it was always clear that the projects that I enjoyed the most and that I was more passionate about were the residential projects. They have always been my favorite because of the scale and the level of detail that you can reach and also because working so closely with families and with my clients its the best part of my work! I love being able to translate their vision and wishes into the spaces that they will spend most of their time in.
